About this role
We’re looking for an Entry Level Technical Writer to join our team. You’ll develop, edit, and maintain technical documentation including reports, test plans, and other technical materials. This is a great opportunity to launch your writing career—no prior experience necessary, and we’ll provide full training.
What you’ll do
Your main responsibilities will include:
Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and other professionals to ensure clarity and consistency in documentation
Develop, write, format, and edit technical documentation such as test plans, reports, standards, and proposals
Prepare documents for publication in electronic format, ensuring proper organization, clarity, and coherence
Review and edit technical documents to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established formats and standards
Work with subject matter experts to verify technical content and accuracy
Research background materials and previously published documents to ensure consistency with established formats
Provide guidance and support for document preparation to ensure quality standards are met
Assist in creating technical illustrations and audiovisual presentations using desktop publishing tools
Write standardized material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical publications
Receive technical direction from your supervisor or senior writer and document operating procedures, specifications, and maintenance information
Access blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, and product samples to integrate and clarify technology and operating procedures
Organize material and complete writing assignments according to established standards for order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology
Maintain records and files of work and revisions; select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate content
Assist in laying out material for publication and arrange for distribution
Assist in writing articles and public communications releases
Provide technical editing for related documentation
Support the development of technical documentation including operations and maintenance manuals, training materials, systems specifications, checklists, and procedures
Develop technical documentation from rough drawings, sketches, or incomplete materials
Skills/background needed
High school diploma or equivalent required. Some college coursework in English, technical writing, or a related field is a plus, but not essential.
Essential skills:
Editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to identify and correct errors in grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Ability to follow document formatting and layout principles
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with engineers and technical staff
Attention to detail to ensure accuracy and completeness in all documents
Preferred (but not required):
Prior experience in a technical writing or editing role
Work environment
This is a fully remote position. You’ll work from home using a computer and standard office software. You’ll need to be comfortable sitting at a desk for extended periods while working on a computer. You should be capable of lifting up to 25 lbs. occasionally.

Requirements for employment
Valid driver’s license with no special restrictions
Pass a pre-employment drug screening
Successfully complete a background check
Be able to obtain an interim security clearance prior to employment and maintain it for the duration of employment
