Overview:
We are looking for a beginner-friendly Lab Assistant to support a pathology team with pre-analytical lab tasks, specimen tracking, and record keeping. This is a remote work-from-home role with full training provided. No prior experience is required.
Responsibilities:
– Follow established procedures for tracking and processing specimens, and help solve simple problems as they arise.
– Review samples and requests to confirm all tests are captured, and keep neat, accurate logs.
– Register cases in the lab information system and create barcodes for tracking.
– Clean and maintain lab equipment, tools, and work stations.
– Manage supplies and inventory, and notify your supervisor when items are running low.
– Check slides at the end of processing and distribute them for review.
– Monitor storage temperatures and report any quality or documentation issues to your supervisor.
– Answer telephone inquiries in a professional, helpful manner.
Skills/background needed:
– High school diploma or equivalent.
– Willingness to learn lab processes and systems.
– Good attention to detail and clear communication.
– Comfort using a computer for email and record keeping.
– Full training provided; no prior lab experience necessary.
Work format:

– Flexible schedule, full time, with weekend and holiday coverage as needed.
