We’re looking for a Junior Technical Writer to join our growing team. This fully remote role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in creating clear, accurate technical documentation that supports software development and system modernization projects.
You’ll work with software engineers, architects, and technical teams to create comprehensive documentation across the full software development lifecycle. This includes system design documents, user guides, operational procedures, architecture diagrams, and technical specifications. Your work will be essential in helping teams understand complex systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, edit, and maintain technical documentation supporting software development, system updates, and lifecycle management
- Develop and maintain software requirements documentation, business use cases, functional specifications, process workflows, and system design documents
- Produce user guides, system administration manuals, training materials, release notes, installation guides, and operational documentation
- Document data processes, including data source descriptions, transformation logic, report procedures, and data flow documentation
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, troubleshooting guides, and system monitoring documentation
- Establish and maintain version-controlled documentation repositories to ensure document integrity and accuracy
- Develop and maintain documentation standards, templates, and style guides to promote consistency
- Collaborate with technical teams to gather information, translate complex technical concepts into clear documentation, and keep documentation synchronized with system changes
- Participate in team ceremonies and support documentation updates throughout each project cycle
- Use modern digital authoring tools to improve documentation quality, consistency, and efficiency
Skills/background needed
No prior technical writing experience is required. We provide full training for entry-level candidates. You should have:
- Excellent written communication and editing skills
- Strong organizational and document management abilities
- Ability to learn and work with version-controlled documentation platforms
- Willingness to learn modern digital authoring technologies
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, developers, and project managers
- Attention to detail and the ability to translate complex technical concepts clearly
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies
- Experience with diagramming tools such as Visio or Lucidchart
- Experience with Git-based repositories or other version control systems
- Knowledge of cloud-based applications and software development processes
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
