About the role:
We’re looking for an entry-level writer and multimedia storyteller to research, write, and report news across a range of topics. You’ll develop stories with local and regional appeal, covering politics, economy, environment, social issues, lifestyle and human-interest angles.
This is a full-time, fully remote position where you’ll work independently under general supervision. You’ll need strong writing and research skills, sound news judgment, curiosity, and excellent communication abilities. Video is central to modern storytelling, so experience or willingness to develop skills in shooting and editing is essential.
What you’ll do:
• Research, interview, and gather information on issues and events through multiple channels
• Write clear, concise copy following approved style guidelines and meeting tight deadlines
• Produce both short entertaining pieces and longer feature articles
• Create and upload news content for websites, including images and video
• Shoot and edit video content for publication
• Use social media and real-time blogging to cover important events
• Build and maintain a network of news contacts and sources
• Attend news conferences and community events to gather stories
• Work closely with photographers, editors, and the wider team
• Use design tools to create graphics, charts, and visual elements that support your stories
Skills/background needed:
• Excellent English writing and grammar
• Research and investigation skills with integrity
• Video technology, videography, and editing experience (or strong willingness to learn)
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
• Sound news judgment and curiosity
• Familiarity with design or video editing software such as Adobe Creative Suite or similar tools
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (local travel required)
• Work authorization in the country where you’re based
