We’re looking for a detail-oriented Customs Entry Writer to join our growing team. This role offers hands-on experience in customs documentation, import processing, and shipment coordination. While we value candidates with prior experience, we provide comprehensive training for the right person who is eager to learn and grow in this field.
Roles: Your main responsibilities will include processing customs entries and import documentation, reviewing shipment records for accuracy and compliance, managing import shipments from arrival through clearance, coordinating with carriers and service providers, tracking shipments and providing customer updates, resolving customs-related issues and discrepancies, maintaining detailed shipment records, and collaborating with internal teams and customers.
What You’ll Be Doing
Customs Processing & Documentation
You’ll process customs entries and government filings for imported goods. You’ll review import documents including invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading to ensure they’re complete and accurate. You’ll file required customs paperwork on time and apply the correct classifications, duties, and tariff information. You’ll work to ensure compliance with government regulations and identify and resolve any customs holds or discrepancies that come up. You’ll communicate with customs officials, customers, and team members to resolve issues as needed, and you’ll support post-entry corrections when necessary.
Import Forwarding & Shipment Coordination
You’ll manage import shipments from the moment they arrive through customs clearance and final delivery. You’ll coordinate with airlines, ocean carriers, warehouses, and other service providers to ensure cargo is released and available on time. You’ll arrange final delivery with transportation providers and track shipments throughout the process. You’ll communicate with overseas offices about documentation and shipment status. You’ll identify and resolve any delays, storage issues, or other operational problems that arise.
Customer Service & Support
You’ll build strong relationships with customers and internal teams. You’ll provide timely, professional communication about shipment status and handle multiple shipments with competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. You’ll take ownership of issues and escalate when needed. You’ll maintain accurate records, documentation, and billing information using standard software tools.
Skills/background needed: Experience with customs entry writing or import forwarding is preferred but not required—we provide full training for motivated learners. You should have strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a customer-focused mindset. Familiarity with Microsoft Office is helpful. Experience with shipping and logistics software is a plus but not necessary.
