We’re looking for an Editorial Assistant to join our publishing team. You’ll provide essential editorial support to senior publishers, working on new book acquisitions, manuscript evaluations, and projects from concept through production.
This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity to learn the publishing industry from the ground up. You’ll work alongside authors, agents, and internal teams across marketing, sales, production, and rights to bring books to life.
What You’ll Do:
• Support senior publishers on new book acquisitions and ongoing projects
• Read and evaluate book proposals submitted for consideration
• Project manage titles through production, liaising with authors, agents, and internal teams
• Prepare acquisition materials including financial projections and supporting documents
• Create and manage title data in our content management system
• Write descriptive copy for books and related materials
• Attend and participate in editorial, marketing, and sales meetings
• Manage administrative tasks including scheduling, correspondence, and documentation
• Within your first 9–12 months, you’ll have the opportunity to independently edit a manuscript
Skills/background needed:
• Strong passion for reading and books
• Excellent writing and editing skills
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work accurately in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to learn and work within content management systems
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Organised, detail-oriented, and reliable
• Responsive and collegial in working with colleagues and external partners
• Publishing experience (including internships) or journalism/editorial background is a plus, but not required
