We’re seeking a detail-oriented Customs Entry Writer to join our growing team. This is a fully remote position perfect for someone ready to learn the customs clearance process from the ground up.
You’ll work with imported shipments, process customs documentation, and help ensure goods clear through customs smoothly. While experience is a bonus, we provide full training to get you up to speed. This role suits someone who enjoys problem-solving, communicating clearly with team members and external contacts, and taking pride in accuracy.
What You’ll Do
Customs Documentation & Entry Processing
• Process customs entries and government agency filings for imported goods clearance• Review import paperwork for accuracy and regulatory compliance• File customs entries on time and ensure proper classification and duty calculations• Work with government agencies to ensure all requirements are met• Identify and help resolve customs issues, holds, and clearance problems• Communicate with customs officials, customers, and colleagues to resolve customs-related matters• Support corrections and follow-up customs activities as needed
Shipment Coordination
• Track and manage import shipments from arrival through customs clearance and delivery• Review shipping documents like invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and arrival notices• Coordinate with airlines, shipping carriers, warehouses, and delivery providers• Arrange final delivery with transportation providers• Communicate with overseas offices about shipment status and requirements• Keep customers updated on shipment progress• Identify and resolve delays, discrepancies, and operational issues
Customer & Team Support
• Build positive relationships with internal and external customers• Provide clear, professional communication throughout the shipment process• Manage multiple shipments and priorities in a time-sensitive environment• Take ownership of issues and escalate when needed• Maintain accurate shipment records and documentation• Collaborate with internal teams, customers, carriers, and vendors• Contribute to operational excellence and accuracy
Skills/background needed: Strong attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication, ability to manage multiple priorities, problem-solving skills, basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, willingness to learn customs regulations and processes. Prior customs or import/export experience is helpful but not required—we’ll train you.
