General Overview
This role focuses on building and maintaining strong relationships with local agencies, community organisations, and stakeholders. You’ll work as a collaborative partner to identify challenges, develop solutions, and lead community-focused efforts across your assigned area. You’ll also partner with other team members to address identified community needs.
This position involves access to and handling of confidential information as required by law. Full training on confidentiality requirements and legal obligations will be provided, and you’ll sign a confidentiality agreement as part of the role.
What You’ll Do
Community Relations: Represent the organisation and meet community stakeholder needs by participating in community boards, agency committees, and regular meetings with local partners. Respond to inquiries and concerns from agencies by either resolving issues directly or connecting them with appropriate team members. Educate community agencies about organisational functions, resources, and capacity. Identify barriers that prevent community participation and offer recommendations for solutions. Work independently to address issues between stakeholders and the organisation.
Team Support: Help empower community members to identify their own needs, use available community resources, and develop local solutions to bridge healthcare gaps. Build collaborative relationships and foster effective partnerships among stakeholders to support community engagement and community-driven approaches to addressing local needs.
Leadership Involvement: Participate as a team member in organisational leadership, contributing to decision-making and providing direction. Represent community needs and issues from your assigned area to leadership. Represent the organisation in various community venues and provide regional input into strategic planning and local initiatives.
Skills and Experience Needed
You’ll need strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills, with exceptional communication ability and confidence in making independent decisions. Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills are essential. You should demonstrate effective leadership presence and the ability to build credibility quickly with diverse groups of people. Sensitivity to local issues and strong relationship-building ability are core to this role.
Knowledge of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse services is valuable. You should be willing to develop proficiency across all areas of disability services. Public speaking, presentation development, group facilitation, advocacy, and project management experience would be beneficial.

Education and Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree in public service administration, psychology, social work, education, health, business administration, or a related human service field. Three years of experience in human services, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
Contract length: Permanent position (exempt role, not eligible for overtime).
Physical Requirements: Close visual acuity for document preparation, computer work, and reading. Physical activity includes walking, talking, listening, and repetitive hand and finger motions. Sedentary work with occasional lifting up to 10 pounds. Extended periods of sitting. Mental concentration, multitasking, and prioritisation required throughout the role.
