About the role:
You’ll work as an independent contractor supporting documentation, user experience copy, and in-app content for a software platform. This project focuses on reviewing the existing content, developing content standards and strategy, and creating help articles, interface microcopy, and user guidance.
You’ll collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to understand the context, support product updates, and ensure users have clear and helpful content throughout the platform.
What you’ll do:
Your work will be split across three main areas:
• Technical writing (approximately 50%): Creating clear documentation and help resources
• Content strategy (approximately 30%): Planning and directing content efforts
• User experience copy (approximately 20%): Writing interface text and guidance
Skills and experience needed:
You should have:
• At least 5 years of technical writing and content strategy experience, ideally with software platforms
• Hands-on experience with help center platforms like Zendesk, including creating and maintaining content
• Experience with in-app guidance tools
• Proven ability to conduct content audits and present findings to team members
• Strong writing skills across technical, interface, and user-facing content
• Ability to develop complete content strategies from planning through measurement
• Experience working with UI design tools and writing copy within design workflows
• Comfort with basic HTML and CSS
• Experience using analytics tools to understand user behaviour
• Ability to work independently and communicate proactively in a fully remote environment
Nice to have:
• Experience with software in fields such as asset management, logistics, or transportation
• Familiarity with AI-assisted writing tools for documentation
• JavaScript knowledge
Tools you’ll use:
You may work with team chat apps, GitHub, project tracking tools, documentation platforms, UI design tools, help center software, and in-app guidance platforms.
