We’re looking for an entry-level sports journalist to join our remote newsroom. This is your opportunity to report on local sports stories that matter to your community—from high school games to college events and beyond.
What You’ll Do
Write and deliver engaging sports stories for digital and social platforms. Produce highlights, conduct interviews, and capture live reports from sporting events. Cover high school, college, and community sports with a focus on the people and stories behind the scores. Develop original story ideas and follow up on emerging angles. Work with producers and photographers to coordinate coverage and meet tight deadlines. Use social media to research, create and promote content. Maintain relationships with coaches, athletes, and community sources.
Skills/background needed
A passion for sports storytelling and the ability to write clearly and compellingly. Basic experience with shooting, editing or publishing content is helpful but not required—we provide training. Strong communication skills, the ability to work under deadline pressure, and comfort using social media and digital tools. A willingness to learn new platforms and continuously improve your craft. Flexibility to work various hours as stories develop.
