Position Overview:
We’re seeking a Speechwriter to support strategic communications and engagement activities. This role involves crafting compelling speeches, talking points, and written materials that clearly communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences. You’ll work with senior leadership, and we’re looking for someone who is flexible, responsive to direction, and quick to incorporate feedback. No prior experience is required — full training will be provided.
What Success Looks Like in This Role:
This is a fast-paced role supporting senior leadership. The ideal candidate is flexible, quick to adapt to feedback, and comfortable working within established processes and protocols. You’ll adjust readily as priorities shift, incorporate edits and direction quickly, and understand how to operate within organizational rhythms and chain-of-command expectations.
Responsibilities:
• Provide direct strategic communications and writing support to senior leadership, operating within established procedures and organizational norms
• Incorporate feedback and direction from leadership rapidly and iteratively, adapting tone, content, and approach as priorities evolve
• Collaborate with writers, editors, and communications personnel to develop story ideas, speech concepts, and content strategies
• Interview subject matter experts to gather insights on complex topics and translate them into clear, plain-language speeches and articles
• Write and edit speeches, talking points, and other materials for executive leadership
• Research topics and prepare leadership remarks for industry, academic, and organizational events
• Draft plain-language articles and other communications for publication
• Create presentations to support speeches and engagements
• Attend speaking engagements to observe and adapt presentation styles
• Participate in calendar coordination meetings to ensure coverage and awareness of key events
Skills/background needed:
• Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability, with a proven ability to respond quickly to feedback and adjust work under shifting priorities and tight timelines
• Experience writing speeches, executive communications, articles, and thought leadership pieces
• Ability to translate technical or complex information into clear, persuasive, and engaging content
• Strong research skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
• Familiarity with standard web content best practices
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Public Relations, or related field is preferred but not required
• No prior professional experience necessary — we provide full training
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
