We’re looking for an experienced editor to lead coverage of politics, policy, and national security. You’ll oversee writers, develop major stories from pitch to publication, and help shape the national conversation on critical issues including elections, foreign affairs, intelligence, and emerging policy topics.
What you’ll do:
Manage and mentor a team of writers on ambitious, high-impact stories. Collaborate with other editors to develop coverage strategy. Move quickly on time-sensitive stories while also investing in deep investigations. Work across the full editorial process—from initial idea through publication and beyond.
Skills/background needed:
10+ years of editorial experience with a strong track record leading coverage of national importance. Exceptional storytelling skills and a deep commitment to idea-driven journalism. Proven ability to manage talented reporters, work collaboratively, and thrive under deadline pressure. You’ll need flexibility to work across time zones and occasional irregular hours.
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
Contract length: Permanent, full-time.
