Role: Science Content Editor
About the role:
You’ll work with a small editorial team to refine educational content, ensuring it’s clear, accurate, and reaches the intended audience effectively. You’ll take on three key editing phases:
Developmental Editing — Review manuscripts for overall quality. You’ll evaluate structure, factual accuracy, and grade-level appropriateness, then provide constructive feedback to writers. This phase may include subject research to verify information.
Copyediting — Apply detailed editing to refined manuscripts, focusing on grammar, consistency, style, and clarity throughout.
Production Editing — Proofread final page proofs to catch any remaining text or layout errors before publication.
You’ll also maintain communication with your project team, suggest process improvements where appropriate, and take on additional projects as they arise.

Skills/background needed:
• Strong grasp of English grammar, sentence structure, and paragraph development
• Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style (or willingness to learn)
• Background in one or more natural sciences (or ability to research and learn)
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and negotiate solutions with team members
• Organisational skills and ability to follow established processes
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree (in any field)
OR
• Demonstrable editing experience (professional or academic)
You’ll be asked to complete a brief editorial assessment as part of the application process.
Contract length: Full-time, permanent
Work environment: Fully remote, work from home. After a successful onboarding period, flexible or hybrid schedules may be available.
