Junior Technical Writer/Editor – Entry Level

We’re looking for an entry-level technical writer and editor to join our team. You’ll design, develop, produce, and maintain operational and policy manuals, job aids, training materials, and other scientific and technical communication. No prior experience is required—we provide full training and support.

Roles:

In this role, you will:

Identify and develop technical, policy, scientific, and procedural manuals and associated content, including determining information needs for a variety of audiences

Review manuals and applications for adequacy, noting any gaps in coverage, unclear explanations, or inaccurate information

Ensure the editorial quality, readability, and logical presentation of manuals and content for diverse audiences

Review and evaluate content drafted by others to ensure it meets established standards

Assess whether technical or scientific information is clearly presented and whether findings support recommendations

Analyze content organization and presentation, providing recommendations when rewrites are needed to meet programme requirements

Provide writing and editing guidance to team members and track progress on improvements

Perform other duties as assigned

Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.

Contract length: Permanent, full-time position

Skills/background needed:

You should have experience or education in writing and editing. The ideal candidate will have:

Demonstrated ability to edit and proofread written documents for clarity, accuracy, grammar, spelling, and punctuation

Experience designing or developing manuals, job aids, training materials, or technical content

Familiarity with policy and procedural documentation

Strong attention to detail and ability to learn quickly

Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with others

Flexibility and self-management in a team environment

A degree in communications, marketing, public administration, organizational management, library science, advertising, public relations, journalism, English, or a related field is helpful, but we welcome applicants with relevant experience in lieu of formal qualifications. Location: On-site positions available in Fort Collins, CO; Frederick, MD; and Raleigh, NC. Relocation assistance may be provided.
