We’re looking for a Junior Editor to help develop and publish romance fiction that readers love. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with authors, evaluate manuscripts, and help shape books from acquisition through publication.
As a Junior Editor, you’ll build your own list of romance authors while supporting senior editorial staff. You’ll evaluate submissions, develop projects, collaborate across departments, and build relationships with authors and agents. This role is perfect for someone with a genuine passion for romance fiction and a desire to grow in the publishing industry.
What You’ll Do:
• Identify, evaluate, and work with romance manuscripts in areas of opportunity
• Monitor marketplace trends and reader interests to spot acquisition opportunities
• Present potential acquisitions at editorial meetings and participate in discussions with authors and agents
• Develop manuscripts for content, structure, and commercial appeal
• Support senior editors with editorial reads and manuscript evaluation
• Build and maintain relationships with author and agent partners
• Collaborate with marketing, publicity, sales, and design teams
• Maintain editorial schedules and communicate with authors, agents, and colleagues
• Handle editorial and administrative tasks including correspondence, copyediting, and proofreading
• Support senior editors with editorial preparation and project management
What You’ll Need:
• 2–4 years of publishing experience, with some experience in editorial work or manuscript evaluation
• A genuine passion for reading adult romance fiction and knowledge of current trends and authors
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Self-motivation and initiative
• Detail-oriented and organized
• Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment
• Commercial instincts and the ability to understand what appeals to readers
• Willingness to learn and grow in the publishing field
Roles: Full-time, permanent position
