About This Role

We’re looking for a Grant Writer Volunteer to help identify and secure funding opportunities that support our programs and growth. This is a flexible, fully remote volunteer position with a typical time commitment of 4–8 hours per month, though availability may vary based on funding deadlines throughout the year.

What You’ll Do

• Draft grant applications, proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting materials

• Customize each application to match funder priorities and requirements

• Work with organizational leadership to gather program data, budgets, and supporting documents

• Maintain organized records of submitted, pending, awarded, and declined applications

• Track grant deadlines and reporting requirements

• Assist with grant reports and funder updates when needed

Sponsorship Development

• Research businesses and corporations interested in sponsoring our programs, events, and youth initiatives

• Draft sponsorship letters, requests, proposals, and partnership communications

• Customize sponsorship requests based on the business and opportunity

• Help develop sponsorship packages and partnership benefits

• Maintain a pipeline of prospective sponsors and track outreach and outcomes

• Support leadership with sponsor meetings and presentations

Skills/background needed

Prior grant writing experience is strongly preferred. Ideal candidates will have experience researching and writing nonprofit grant applications, familiarity with local and community funding opportunities, and strong professional writing skills. You should be comfortable identifying grants that are a realistic fit for growing organizations, managing multiple deadlines, maintaining organized records, and following detailed application instructions. Passion for youth development and education is essential.

What Success Looks Like

The goal is to build a strong, realistic funding pipeline by identifying opportunities that are a genuine match for our organization. Success means maintaining a consistent pipeline of opportunities, submitting quality applications throughout the year, expanding relationships with community funders, increasing sponsorship opportunities, and strengthening our overall funding strategy.

What You’ll Gain

You’ll gain hands-on experience supporting a youth-focused nonprofit organization, expand your grant writing portfolio, work directly with organizational leadership, receive professional references based on your volunteer service, and help secure resources that directly support girls, families, mentors, and community programming.
