Overview:
We’re looking for a Grant Writer to help develop grant applications and funding proposals on a flexible, as-needed basis. This is a great entry point into grant writing if you have some foundational writing experience and want to learn how nonprofits and social service organizations secure funding.
You’ll work from home, tackle one project at a time, and receive full guidance on what funders are looking for and how to structure compelling proposals. No prior grant writing experience is required—we’ll train you on the basics and support you throughout.
What You’ll Do:
• Research and write grant proposals and funding responses for various foundations and government programs
• Work with program and finance teams to gather information about services, outcomes, and budgets
• Turn detailed programme information into clear, persuasive written narratives
• Draft and refine key proposal sections like needs statements, programme descriptions, and expected outcomes
• Edit and improve proposal language for clarity and strength
• Manage multiple assignments and track submission deadlines
• Ensure all proposals align with funder guidelines and requirements
Skills/background needed:
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Ability to understand and explain complex programme information clearly
• Comfort meeting tight deadlines
• Ability to work independently and follow detailed funder requirements
• Interest in learning about nonprofit and social service funding
Experience with any of these areas is helpful but not required:
• Social services or community support programmes
• Housing or homelessness services
• Mental health or health services
• Nonprofit or public sector work
Contract length: As needed / flexible
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
