Roles: Freelance Trending Sports Writer
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
Contract length: Flexible freelance work
Location: Remote work worldwide (United States preferred)
We are looking for a freelance Trending Sports Writer to cover the big sports moments that capture attention well beyond core fans. This is a fully remote, work-from-home role with full training provided, so no prior professional experience is necessary.
You will write clear, engaging news stories for a mainstream global audience, pitch timely ideas, spot stories early through social media and trend monitoring, and explain why a story matters. You may work with editorial and social teams to help stories reach a wide audience.
Stories include major sports figures in the headlines, flashpoint moments that spark wider conversation, breakout athletes or results, and places where sport meets celebrity, media, or online culture. This is not match reporting or tactical analysis.
Skills/background needed: A feel for stories that travel, an interest in sport, entertainment, or online culture, clear and accessible writing, and comfort working independently in a fast-paced news environment. Weekend availability is helpful. Full training and support are provided, and beginners are welcome to apply.
