We’re looking for a freelance travel writer to create original, first-hand travel stories for a new remote platform. You’ll work directly with the founding team, pitch your own story ideas, and help shape the editorial voice from the ground up.
Responsibilities:
Develop and pitch story ideas; travel to locations and report firsthand; write original articles on outdoor activities, trails, parks, wildlife, and seasonal events; produce practical, reader-focused guides with details on access, cost, timing, and difficulty; deliver clean copy on deadline; revise through our review process; supply supporting photography where possible; contribute ideas on coverage gaps and seasonal timing.
Skills/background needed:
Published travel writing samples; genuine familiarity with your chosen region including trails, seasons, and local knowledge; ability and willingness to travel and report in person; clear, warm, practical writing voice; strong time management and ability to work independently; your own transportation and gear; photography skills and web writing experience are a plus.
Contract length: Freelance, per-article basis with growth potential as the platform expands.
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
