We are looking for a beginner-friendly Writer to join our fully remote team. No prior experience is required — full training is provided, and all work is done from home.
Roles: Research and write short articles of 500-750 words for a website that helps homeowners maintain and improve their homes and yards. Edit and proofread other writers’ articles. Enter articles and other content into a content management system. Help generate article ideas. Help plan themes for a monthly electronic newsletter, evaluate images, and write lead-in copy. Help with production and publication to the website as needed.
Skills/background needed: Microsoft Word is a must; Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint are helpful. A conversational, easy-to-read writing style. Comfort working to deadlines. A good sense of what makes writing strong versus weak. Comfort having your work edited. Willingness to learn house editorial style. Able to work both independently and as part of a team. Nice to have: technical writing experience, basic knowledge of simple HTML, familiarity with Chicago and AP style, and knowledge of home repair and improvement.
