Overview: We are looking for a beginner-friendly News Writer to join our fully remote editorial team. This is a great entry-level opportunity for someone who enjoys following current events and wants to build writing experience from home.
Roles: Write and publish breaking news and trending stories accurately and quickly. Pitch and cover stories of interest to a broad online audience, always crediting sources properly. Work with editors and other writers to present clear, consistent, and engaging copy. There is also room to develop original stories through source contacts.
Rate: Competitive entry-level rate, details shared upon application.
Contract length: Full time, Monday to Friday, with flexibility for breaking news and holiday coverage.
Skills/background needed: No prior professional experience required; full training provided. A degree in journalism or a related subject is helpful but not essential. You should have a firm grasp of current events, strong writing and accuracy under deadlines, and basic familiarity with search-friendly story production and standard style guidelines. Comfort using common writing and research tools, including AI assistants, is a plus. Must be able to work from home and adapt to a fast-moving news cycle.
