Are you passionate about telling stories that matter to your community? We’re looking for an Editorial Writer & News Editor to help lead coverage and shape the narrative in a local newsroom.
This is a remote role where you’ll work from home while serving as a key voice in editorial strategy. You’ll report on local stories that impact your community, mentor other writers, and ensure our coverage reflects what readers care about most.
What You’ll Do:
Shape editorial direction and guide coverage decisions on breaking news, in-depth features, and community stories. Serve as a trusted voice upholding accuracy, fairness, and independent journalism. Understand reader interests through digital metrics and community feedback. Mentor and support other writers in developing their skills. Partner with community coordinators to highlight local impact and voices.
Skills/background needed:
Experience in news writing or editorial work (experience in a newsroom is helpful but not required). A commitment to factual, fair, and unbiased reporting. Understanding of digital publishing and how audiences engage with content. Strong writing and communication skills. Ability to work flexibly, as news doesn’t always follow a 9-to-5 schedule.
Work Format:
Fully remote. You’ll work from home, typically 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, though flexible hours are available when news requires it.
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
Location: Remote work worldwide (English speaking preferred)
