Editorial Assistant – Publishing Remote Entry Level

We’re seeking an Editorial Assistant to provide administrative and editorial support within a fast-paced publishing environment. This is a fully remote, entry-level role perfect for someone passionate about books and eager to launch their publishing career.

You’ll work closely with senior team members, authors, and literary agents throughout the publishing process, handling manuscript evaluation, editorial coordination, and administrative tasks that keep our publishing operation running smoothly.

What You’ll Do:

• Read, evaluate, and report on manuscripts and proposals submitted for publication

• Draft, edit, and maintain cover briefs, fact sheets, catalog copy, and descriptive metadata

• Support the editorial management of author projects, new acquisitions, and special initiatives

• Collaborate with authors and agents on manuscript development, payments, and sales information

• Produce and manage reports using publishing systems, including schedules, sales data, and performance tracking

• Organize and distribute materials for editorial meetings and publishing cycle events

• Guide projects through the editorial and post-editorial phases, working with Managing Editorial, Production, and Marketing teams

• Handle administrative coordination including scheduling, travel arrangements, and expense reports

• Draft correspondence to internal and external stakeholders on behalf of senior leadership

• Manage data and information efficiently, supporting all aspects of the publishing workflow from acquisitions to author reporting

Skills/background needed:

• Genuine interest in non-fiction books and the publishing industry

• Strong writing and editorial skills with an eye for commercial potential

• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel

• Comfortable working with Canva and database systems

• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and pay close attention to detail

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with diverse teams, authors, and external partners

• Problem-solving mindset and initiative to improve processes

• Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment

• No prior publishing experience required — full training provided

Role Details:

Contract length: Permanent, full-time

Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application
