We’re seeking a part-time content writer to join our team. You’ll work on writing assignments that help people discover and share their family stories through historical research and engaging content.
About the role:
As a Content Writer, you’ll collaborate closely with an editor and programme manager to complete writing assignments. You’ll conduct historical research, write across multiple formats (record descriptions, personalised stories, and blog posts), and ensure all work meets style guidelines and quality standards. You’ll manage deadlines and provide regular updates on your progress.
What you’ll do:
• Collaborate with your editor and programme manager to develop and refine writing assignments• Conduct in-depth historical research to support your writing• Write content in multiple formats, including record descriptions, personalised stories, and blog posts• Follow style guidelines consistently and maintain quality and tone across all work• Ensure all facts and information are well-researched and accurate• Meet all submission deadlines• Provide status updates to your editor and programme manager as requested
Skills/background needed:
• Strong writing and editing skills• Excellent written and verbal communication• Experience writing about historical events and sensitive topics (or willingness to learn)• Background in history, English, journalism, or equivalent professional writing experience• Strong research and internet skills• Attention to detail and accuracy• Ability to follow style guides and maintain consistent tone• Ability to interpret and implement guidelines• Self-motivated and organised• Background in family history is a plus but not required• No prior experience is necessary – full training and guidance will be provided
Work format:
This is a fully remote, part-time contract position. You’ll work from home and manage your own schedule around the deadlines provided.
