We’re seeking a thoughtful, curious writer to create engaging news analysis pieces for our daily publication. In this role, you’ll write original analysis and reporting that helps readers understand current events and complex issues happening around the world. You’ll work closely with editors and other writers to plan coverage and deliver compelling pieces on tight deadlines.
This is a fully remote position perfect for someone who loves following the news, thinking deeply about current events, and explaining complex topics in clear, engaging language. You’ll develop your own areas of interest while contributing to a publication read by hundreds of thousands of people daily.
What you’ll do:
Write multiple original pieces of news analysis each week in coordination with your editor. Deliver polished, well-reasoned copy while meeting daily deadlines. Stay informed on major domestic and international news across multiple platforms and publications. Find fresh angles and new insights on widely-covered events and issues. Plan ahead to anticipate and cover major news stories. Read and respond to audience feedback to understand what resonates with readers.
Skills/background needed:
Strong writing ability with a clear, engaging style. Experience writing news analysis or reporting (professional or substantial freelance work). Genuine interest in current events and the ability to understand complex topics quickly. Comfort working under tight deadlines. Ability to think independently and approach familiar stories from fresh angles. Interest in newsletters and digital publishing is a plus.
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
