Content Editor – Subscriber Commentary, Remote

We’re looking for a Content Editor to write and package subscriber-focused commentary on major news stories. You’ll work fully remotely, producing timely analysis and opinion pieces that help readers understand why stories matter and what comes next.

This is an execution-focused writing role. You’ll respond to editorial briefs, identify strong angles on breaking news, and deliver clean, accurate copy under deadline pressure. The focus is on commentary that explains context, stakes and implications—not just recapping events. You’ll work under the direction of senior editors, revise constructively, and help package stories for publication.

What you’ll do:

Write rapid, high-quality commentary on breaking and developing news stories. Identify subscriber-worthy angles and develop them with clear framing and strong voice. Turn around clean copy quickly while maintaining accuracy and clarity. Take editorial direction and revise work thoughtfully. Help package stories, including headlines, summaries and metadata. Support newsletter workflows. Keep alert to timely commentary opportunities and flag ideas to senior editors. Apply sound editorial judgment in day-to-day decisions.

Skills/background needed:

Strong experience writing quickly and accurately in a digital news environment, ideally under breaking-news pressure. Ability to write commentary and analysis that goes beyond summary. Good news judgment and a commitment to accuracy, fairness and transparency. Comfort with content management systems and editorial workflows. Professionalism to work calmly and constructively under pressure. Experience with subscriber products, newsletters or audience engagement is a plus but not essential.
