About the role
We are looking for someone who loves books and wants to build a career in book production. This is a hands-on, entry-level role supporting an experienced book professional as manuscripts are developed into polished, print-ready books. You will learn by observing closely, asking thoughtful questions, completing real work, and gradually taking on greater responsibility. No prior experience is required—curiosity, dependability, and willingness to learn are what matter most.
How you will contribute
You will observe and learn the complete workflow for moving a book from manuscript to print, including editing, typesetting, cover design, and more. You will assist with organizing manuscripts, images, project files, and production records. As your skills develop, you will support editing, proofreading, formatting, and layout work under guidance. You will review book interiors and covers for errors and inconsistencies, help prepare files against quality standards, and communicate progress and questions early. Other tasks will be assigned as needed.
What you can expect to learn
You will gain practical exposure to editing, design, typesetting, proofreading, print specifications, e-books, and quality control. You will learn to evaluate book materials, manage revisions and deadlines, and handle increasingly substantial parts of book projects.
The kind of person who will thrive here
You love books and want to understand how they are produced. You watch and listen attentively, take good notes, ask thoughtful questions, and remember what you have been shown. You are comfortable receiving direct feedback and revising your work. You take ownership of mistakes, learn from them, and work to avoid repeating them. You are patient, detail-oriented, reliable, and organized. Strong written English and the ability to learn are essential. Familiarity with design software is a plus but not required.
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
Contract length: Part-time or full-time, flexible based on your availability and the role’s development.
Location: Remote work worldwide (English speaking preferred)
