We’re looking for a Breaking News Writer to join our fast-paced breaking news team. You’ll write real-time news posts, monitor emerging stories across multiple platforms, and help cover major events as they unfold around the world.
What you’ll do:
Write sharp, concise breaking news posts for our live updates platform. Monitor multiple breaking events simultaneously. Pitch story ideas and collaborate with team members on daily news priorities. Track fast-moving storylines and familiarise yourself quickly with key figures in any story. Work closely with newsgathering partners globally, coordinating coverage across time zones.
What we’re looking for:
A sharp, fast writer who can craft punchy headlines and clear, precise paragraphs that capture the essence of a story. Genuine curiosity about breaking news and how stories spread across social media and news alerts. Ability to juggle multiple topics and thrive in a high-pressure, constantly changing environment. Strong communicator and collaborator who works well with cross-functional teams. Flexibility to adapt your schedule when major news breaks. No prior experience required — full training provided.
The role:
This is a full-time, fully remote position. Weekend hours (Saturday through Wednesday) apply.
