Teach creative writing to young people through immersive, collaborative classroom partnerships. You’ll work one-on-one with a single class over a defined period, developing and delivering engaging writing lessons that inspire creative thinking and self-expression.
What you’ll do:
Design and deliver skills-based creative writing workshops tailored to your classroom partner’s needs. Work closely with an educator throughout the residency, attending planning meetings and adjusting lessons based on feedback. Participate in program evaluation and submit required data on schedule. Residencies run for 12–15 teaching hours (not including prep and meetings) and may be structured as weekly sessions over a few months, bi-weekly over a school year, or a compressed intensive format—all scheduled between 8:30am and 4pm on school days.
Skills/background needed:
An active creative writing practice and ability to teach writing fundamentals. Experience working with young people or in community settings preferred. You’re adaptable, embrace creative risk-taking, and welcome feedback. You can commit to working with one classroom for the full residency period and are willing to travel to your partner school location.
