About This Role
We are seeking a motivated Grants Writer to help research and secure funding opportunities that support programs, operations, and growth. This is a fully remote, flexible position perfect for someone looking to build experience in nonprofit grant writing and sponsorship development.
What You’ll Be Doing
Grant Research & Writing
• Research local, community, corporate, and foundation grant opportunities that align with organisational priorities and programmes
• Identify grants supporting youth development, mentoring, education, leadership, family engagement, and community initiatives
• Review eligibility requirements and recommend realistic funding opportunities
• Draft letters of inquiry, grant applications, proposals, and narratives tailored to each funder’s priorities
• Work with leadership to gather programme data, budgets, outcomes, and supporting documents
• Maintain organized records of submitted, pending, awarded, and declined applications
• Track grant deadlines and reporting requirements
• Assist with grant reports and funder updates when needed
Sponsorship Development
• Research businesses and corporations interested in sponsoring programmes and events
• Identify local and regional businesses with a track record of supporting community organisations
• Draft sponsorship letters, requests, and partnership communications
• Customize sponsorship requests based on the business and opportunity
• Help develop sponsorship packages and benefits as needed
• Maintain a pipeline of prospective sponsors and track outreach and commitments
• Support leadership with information for sponsor meetings and presentations
Skills & Background Needed
• Experience researching and writing nonprofit grant applications (or strong writing skills with willingness to learn)
• Experience with local grants, community grants, and corporate giving programmes preferred
• Experience writing corporate sponsorship requests and proposals preferred
• Strong research and professional writing skills
• Ability to identify grants that are a realistic fit for growing organizations
• Understanding of grant guidelines, eligibility requirements, budgets, and outcomes
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and keep organized records
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow application instructions
• Ability to communicate clearly with leadership about documents and information needed
• Passion for supporting youth development, education, and community empowerment
• Full training will be provided on organizational priorities and processes
